150 years ago, Marx published his Capital. Can we assess the topical importance of his theory today in another way than traditional leftists do and show the central role of his critical categories of commodity, value, money, abstract labour and commodity fetishism for our understanding of the contemporary world? What does Guy Debord’s Society of the Spectacle teach us about the evolution of capitalism? And how can new forms of critical Marxism, as the critique of value (Postone, Kurz), help us to understand the recent wave of “transversal” populism as a form of “fake anticapitalism” ?
